10 FREEHAND LESSONS - Summer Term
With Luci Eyers
27 April - 6 July (A week off on 1 June)
6-8.30pm, Wednesday (studio)
£190 for 10 Lessons
Over 10 evening lessons this course will investigate different fundamental facets of drawing and give you confidence in your ability to sketch and visualise ideas more effectively. Each session takes one element of drawing as its starting point: line, tempo, generic/specific representation, volume, framing & margins, interior & exterior spaces, the use of erasure & tone, scale & proportion, viewpoints, and repetition & variation. The course cultivates an understanding of the basics and utilises them to explore visual ideas. We use a variety of materials including: pencils, ink & charcoal. Materials are included.

11am - 4pm, Mondays, (studio)

EYE TO PENCIL WORKSHOPS
Our workshops extend our core courses by providing a few all-day drawing sessions to focus on particular aspects of drawing.
SKETCHBOOKS WORKSHOP 1
With Molly Martin
Thursday, 27 January
10am-4pm (1 hour lunch break)
£50
(studio)
Molly Martin is an artist and illustrator who works constantly in her sketchbooks. She will share her ideas on how to use your sketchbooks more regularly in order to capture and notate everyday things and the world around us. In this workshop Molly will guide participants through a day of filling up sketchbooks, using a variety of materials and different approaches.
SKETCHBOOKS IN THE GALLERY
With Molly Martin
Thursday, 10 March
10am-4pm (1 hour lunch break)
£50
(gallery & studio)
In this second workshop led by artist and illustrator Molly Martin, we will be taking our sketchbooks to the National Gallery. One of the constant sources of inspiration for Molly is to draw from other artist's work in Museums. This workshop will start in the National Gallery in the morning, drawing into your sketchbooks from paintings. In the afternoon we will draw in the studio to develop ideas further, working from the morning's sketches.
COLLABORATIVE WALL DRAWING
With Luci Eyers
Saturday, 5 February
10am-4pm (1 hour lunch break)
£50
(studio)
Drawing collaboratively is like having a visual conversation. A small group of us will spend the day drawing together on a large scale drawing. We will work within a system which allows each of us to develop a part of the large drawing but also to work in shared areas in a responsive, improvised way. The day’s drawing will be paced, so that we can pause, taking breaks to step back and discuss the next steps.
SUSTAINED DRAWING
With Luci Eyers
Saturday, 19 March
10am-4pm (1 hour lunch break)
£50
(studio)
This workshop will provide a chance to draw in the studio in a slower way, with the possibility of developing a particular work, with more depth, over the whole day. In the evening courses we often try a few ideas, working quickly as we experiment with new materials or ideas. This workshop will allow for a sustained approach to make a drawing with more complexity, on a larger scale or with more attention to detail. At the end of the day there will be time for discussion and for everyone to share their drawings.
